About us
The Ponce Chapter of the Ladies' Civic Club of Puerto Rico is a non-profit organization that was installed on May 21, 1957, at the Meliá Hotel in Ponce, by the President of the Ladies' Civic Club of Puerto Rico, Mrs. Carmen Córdova de Nicholas. Forty-eight (48) ladies constituted the founding group.
After the obligatory ceremony, the Chapter proceeded to elect its first Board of Directors, which was chaired by Mrs. Margot Arbona de Guzmán, RIP, mother of colleague Margarita Guzmán, widow of Vicenty RIP, who was a member of our club until this year.
Its current enrollment is made up of around ninety-seven ladies, who promote the organization's motto: Fraternity, Charity and Civility. In the current civic year 2024-2025 we will culminate the celebration of sixty-eight (68) years of serving the less fortunate of our beloved city of Ponce through philanthropic projects. The president of the Club and her Board choose a project each year that is carried out with the funds raised during the year's Hat Parade.
